Perform grid connection studies, including load flow, short circuit analysis, and dynamic simulations to ensure compliance with grid codes and technical requirements.
Conduct power system analysis to evaluate grid topology, regional power flow, and identify optimal grid connection points based on capacity, voltage level, and system stability.
Proficient in power system simulation software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E, or ETAP.
Analyze existing grid infrastructure and recommend necessary substation upgrades or expansions, including high-voltage equipment and protection systems.
Evaluate the technical feasibility and compliance of overhead transmission lines (OHL), AIS/GIS substations, and associated high-voltage components.
Develop grid connection strategies, including conceptual design of substations, grid interfaces, and supporting infrastructure.
Strong understanding of local grid codes, interconnection standards, and Oman’s regulatory framework, including procedures for securing connection agreements.
Collaborate with Transmission and Distribution System Operators (TSOs and DSOs) during technical due diligence, interconnection applications, and connection agreement processes.
Interpret and apply network development plans, protection philosophies, and electrical schematics to guide system design and integration.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), interconnection study reports, and technical specifications.
Participate in technical meetings with internal teams, contractors, utility companies, and regulatory authorities to resolve grid-related issues and align on technical solutions.
Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases to ensure timely, safe, and compliant integration with the transmission network.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Power System Integration Engineer to lead grid connection activities and ensure grid code compliance for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind, hybrid systems, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role plays a critical part in facilitating the successful integration of renewable assets into the national grid. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in power system studies and substation design, coupled with a deep understanding of transmission networks and grid infrastructure. Familiarity with Oman’s regulatory framework—particularly grid connection procedures and connection agreement requirements—is essential for this position.
